We understand your concern over the recent news reports which have created a controversy over the benefits of screening mammography. Shady Grove Radiological Consultants, the American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology strongly disagree with the conclusions of this study.

This study was performed by rehashing older studies, reprocessing statistics and building mathematical models to come to conclusions on the population as a whole. We disagree with this methodology.

We have over 200 years of combined mammographic interpretive experience among our Radiologists, and we have all seen the benefit of the screening mammography program to the individual patients in our practice over that time period.

We will continue to recommend to our patients to follow the current American College of Radiology/American Cancer Society Guidelines for Screening Mammography.
